During each rally event I attempt to find a product that I feel stands out and is worthy of receiving product of the month or product find of the event. During my 14-day stay at this year Daytona 2008 Bike Week, I was able to visit just about every vendor location and learn about some of the greatest innovations being offered to the motorcycle enthusiasts.
As I traveled down US 1 in Holly Hill, and a bit confused by the sign The Car Shop, sitting in the parking lot, was this years Find of the Month, a CLEAR TRAILER! Not only did it catch my eye from the road, it caused me to hang a u-turn and stop in.

As I approached this intriguing creation, my memory started to recall a similar trailer that I saw while covering the 2007 Toy Run in Ft. Lauderdale last Christmas. My friends over at Wide Open Cycles had their bikes in a trailer that was very similar. Come to find out it was obtained thru this same establishment.
Eventually I meet the owner of The Car Shop and the man behind the CLEAR TRAILER Robin Hanger. Robin founded his business over 21 years ago where he offers a full automotive parts and service repair shop, servicing cars, trucks, trailers and fleet service vehicles.
At one point about five years ago, Robin decided to expand his facility and branch out into trailer sales and repairs, because most of his existing customers where already asking him install hitches and repairs on their trailers. Which explained why I was confused when I first glanced at the sign from the road baring the words The Car Shop, but had a parking lot full of trailers!
Robin told me that a piece of adjoining property became available allowing him expand and stock a wide variety of trailers. I was spending a lot of time researching and helping my existing customer find new trailers as they would come to me for advice. Robin goes on to say, If we are going to spend the time finding them trailers, we might as well be able to service and sell them.
When I asked Robin how the CLEAR TRAILER came about, he explained while at a car show where he was selling enclosed trailers, an older fellow walked up and inquired if I had every heard of a clear trailer out there? He needed a trailer that would allow him to display his antique car, where he would not have to unhook it at and roll it out at each show to display it. The gentle explained that an open trailer would not work because the antique was too valuable. Furthermore, he went on to say that it becomes a task at each event to load and unload the car, then reload it to get it back home where he would have to one more time unload the vehicle to place it back in his garage. He was looking for a clear trailer that he could park one he arrived at an event and be protected from both the weather and the hands of the on lookers.
During the ride home that evening, Robin began to see the need and benefits a CLEAR TRAILER would offer someone who wanted to showcase either a car or motorcycle.
Removing the interior and exterior walls of a standard trailer, which are required for strength, and replacing the panels with a clear substance simply would not work. A great deal of engineering and thought would be ahead of him to pull this off. Eventually a frame was developed that would not flex and crack. The trailers clear walls are offered in either Plexiglas or Lexan, with Lexan being a security barrier that makes it almost impossible to break thru. Lexan adds about 15% to the cost of the trailer.

Robin turned to a company located in Douglas, GA called TRANSHAUL Inc. to assist in the design, engineering and manufacturing of this concept. TRANSHAUL is currently building a variety of sizes ranging from a 6 x 10 single motorcycle hauler, a 7 x 16 which can hold as many a four bikes and as long as 40 trailers are being made. Prices start at $4,500.00 and go up from there. You can expect to pay about 20 to 25% more that your standard enclosed trailer.
One great feature I feel in love with is that the interior of the trailer is equipped with both 110 volt and 12 volt lighting. During the evening, the 12-volt lights pulled power from your trailer connections displaying your ride as you travel down the road.
You can check out Robins huge selection of trailers online at BestPriceTrailers.com. Be sure to mention you heard about him from BikerDATA.com, because SPECIAL DISCOUNTS will apply on your next trailer purchase.
