Daytona Bike Week 2008 Review
Can you say Vacancy?
This year unlike last year everywhere you looked, you saw the hotel vacancy signs glowing. And for good reason, no one showed up this year. Daytona is the start of the rally season each year and one would think that with all the severe weather up north, large crowds of bikes and riders would head down to sunny Florida to thaw out.
I could not believe my eyes wherever I looked a hotel signs where offering specials and bars stools where vacant at every watering hole. I traveled the famous loop several times during bike as I traveled from River Front Park to Destination Daytona each day and again the road was VACANT. Hard to believe but is it is true. I took several shoots and not a motorcycle in view.

Energy Drink for your motorcycle, LIQUID HORSEPOWER (LHP)
We all at one time of another have seen or even tried an energy drink for our body, so don’t you think your bike deserves a little boost!
I first found this product during my visit to the 2007 STURGIS Rally; where I first met Mike the owner of Manhattan Oil displaying his product called Liquid Horsepower (LHP). I noticed a plaque being displayed at his booth that LHP had won product of the year at the previous STURGIS rally.

After a good hour of conversation and understanding what Mike claimed LHP would do, I was fortunate to leave with a couple of bottles to take home and try. Of course it did not take Mike the hour to convenience me that his product was worthy of being added to each of my fill ups at the gas pump, I personally have had experience years ago with a industrial grade Fuel and oil additive that truly did work. My question was would Liquid Horsepower work in my Fat Boy?

The only reservation I had using LHP, CLICK HERE to read full story.

Product find while in Daytona Florida during 2008 Bike Week.

During each rally event I attempt to find a product that I feel stands out and is worthy of receiving product of the month or product find of the event. During my 14-day stay at this year Daytona 2008 Bike Week, I was able to visit just about every vendor location and learn about some of the greatest innovations being offered to the motorcycle enthusiasts.

This Leather jacket caught my eye during the 2008 Daytona Bike Week. Being a fan of alligator skin, I stop this gentleman to find out more about this leather jacket.

The jacket was hand-made by a family owned leather shop in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Located downtown is a custom leather shop called Rolling Stones. Dress shoes and custom-made boots are the best sellers, but they are able to make anything your heart desires.
At this time, I have no other contact info, but I am working on it. I will put an update on the home page of BikerDATA.com later.

The Famous Daytona Loop
I have enjoyed this ride several times over the last three years and wanted to share it with you and hopefully you can take the time during your next visit to Daytona area to enjoy it yourself.
Unfortunately, I can not tell you EXACTLY how long the ride will take because I never clocked it or hit the trip meter on my ride. If you Google the loops ride, you will find several claims of how many miles the loop actually is. That is strange but is seems no one can agree of the actual route or how long the loop ride is. I will add it to my list for this up coming Biketoberfest to not only calculate the mileage but I will also video the ride for everyone to see.

Biker killed while stopped at intersection
Douglas M. Bronson A 43-year-old motorcyclist never had a chance when Elena R. Santana, 18, of New Smyrna Beach the driver of a SUV plowed into the rear of Bronson’s motorcycle, as he was stop at a beachside intersection in New Smyrna Beach.
Bronson was stopped on Saxon Drive at 15th Avenue facing south when he was struck from behind and killed. Driver Santana was traveling in the same direction not seeing the motorcycle until it was to late to PREVENT the collision. Bronson was thrown from his motorcycle and than was run over by the SUV of Santana.
Resident Douglas M. Bronson of New Smyrna Beach, dead at the scene minutes after midnight Tuesday March 25, 2008.
Reports show he was not wearing a helmet. A preliminary report estimated Santana’s speed at 40 mph. The speed limit on the road is posted at 35 mph. Not sure if a helmet would have helped Mr. Brunson or only would have caused additional pain, suffering and prolonged his death.
Accident has been turned over to a traffic homicide investigator, but no charges have been filed at this time.
This is a debate as a rider I would not want a helmet to save me. This type of impact would cause sever trauma and if a helmet saved my life, what life would I have after such impact. The burden on your family to know have to care for you for the rest of your life is not what I would want. I would hate to force my family to change their life because of a careless driver.
We as riders have to join together and support foundations that bring awareness to the community and drivers that motorcycles are everywhere. One foundation I support is the Gene Pearson Motorcycle Awareness Foundation, Inc. A simple message: "LOOK TWICE – SAVE A LIFE" Motorcycles are Everywhere! Gene’s mother is on a mission to get the word out after losing her son. You can find out more and lend your support at GenePearson.org

This month we bring you motorcycle images from Daytona 2008 Builders Breakfast held at the new Coca-Cola™ Pavilion located at DESTINATION DAYTONA

I have chosen this month Tec Tip to be more geared towards Safety Awareness. Over the last month, I have been disturbed with the amount of careless accidents that have resulted in motorcycle deaths.
The old saying that curves kill riders because of the rider and intersections kill riders because of the OTHER rider is so true. What about the careless drivers, which while a rider is passionately waiting for a red light to change, are plowed in the ass from the driver that has their head up their ass?
I have found a new foundation with a mission to help riders by putting the word out to “LOOK TWICE SAVE A LIFE” Motorcycles is Everywhere! Gene Pearson Motorcycle Awareness Foundation. / GenePearson.org

Since the death of here son Gene in May of 2005, Diane Pearson has become a Mother on a Mission for Motorcycle Awareness in Florida. Diane’s loss as tragic as it may be, has turned a negative situation into one that will benefit others.

RENEGADE 3-PIECE BILLET RIMS

Over the last few years, Renegade has been riding on the cutting edge of custom wheel design and their new and very exclusive collection of 3-piece wheels is certain to raise the benchmark in styling still another notch. The new rims are, in fact, cut from solid blocks of billet, machined to rim shape and laser cut in half. The inner section is machined to any of Renegade’s signature styles from solid billet and bolted between the halves using grade 8, 12 point cap screws and lock nuts. This 3 piece design means you can order any style you like finished in black powder coat, chrome or any combination of the two. Very Cool!

It has been almost a whole year since I attended the spring Myrtle Beach Rally in 2007, and this restaurant review has been sitting IDLE in my DATAbase waiting for the right time to post it.
I actually spent several hours during the last year trying to decide weather I wanted to “let the cat out of the bag” and share this restaurant with you. Why you say? Because it is the best darn seafood restaurant since sliced bread and I want to keep it a secret. I am being selfish and hate to think that I could be the reason a long line of patrons are waiting outside the front door when I try to get in.

Last year on day five of my visit a friend invited me out for a late night snack. Most everything shuts down early in Myrtle Beach and this joint is one of the few restaurants that serve’s food late. We arrived at Rockefellers Raw Bar, where I had previously passed by the last four nights. You see from the outside you might not pull in because of the rustic appearance and old furnishings. Have you heard the saying “looks can be deceiving?”
Once seated I was informed by my friend we would be ordering the STEAM POT. He explained we would be sharing this order and I was in for a meal of a lifetime if I liked crap legs, shrimp, oysters, clams mussels, crawfish, sausage, new potatoes and corn on the cob!
